La Caldera de Bandama and its peak make up the Bandama Natural Monument, a completely unique space of scientific interest which is within the Protected Landscape of Tafira. The perfect structure of its caldera converts it into one of the most beautiful mountains in the Canary Islands.
El Jardín Canario. This is today the largest garden in Spain and is has become a major reference point for the conservation of endemic local flora. It has over 27 hectares where it provides a home for a magnificent display of the native flora of the Canary Islands and of the Macaronesian area. You will enjoy a pleasant stroll while you observe gorgeous landscapes full of flora, both autochthonous and endemic.
Vegueta. The heart of Las Palmas de Gran Canaria.You can feel the history at street level in this quarter full of colonial houses, a quarter which is home to a large part of the great monuments of the Canary Island Archipelago. There are historic buildings in its squares like the Casa de Colón (Columbus House), the Cathedral of St Anne, the Museo Canario and many more. A few steps from the old quarter of Vegueta is the Calle Mayor de Triana, one of the prettiest streets in the city. This is where all the main commercial franchises are concentrated.
Santa Catalina Park. This is one of the principal meeting points due to its proximity to the Playa de Las Canteras (Las Canteras Beach) and to the cruise ship terminals, and it is one of the most famous tourist locations in the city.
The Barranco de Guayadeque (The Guayadeque Ravine). This ravine is located on the island of Gran Canaria separating the towns of Ingenio and Agüimes and it is one of the largest ravines on the archipelago. It is of particular note because of its Pre-Hispanic archaeology and of its valuable flora and fauna exclusive to Gran Canaria. It is also outstanding because of the large quantity of cave-houses, including a hermitage excavated in the rock.
La Villa de Agüimes (The Town of Agüimes). Outstanding for its historic quarter, in an absorbing and intoxicating setting. Life is an art in Agüimes, every last corner of its historic quarter seems to have been chiselled out by hand, creating a setting where tradition blends with history. Thus a network of streets, alleys, squares and passages has been forged, and its beauty is captivating. The Square of San Antón lets the visitor enjoy the different buildings there, like the houses of the farm-workers, of the bourgeoisie, some converted now into craftsmen’s workshops.
